Raven's writing partner Virginia Ellis

Award-winning author Virginia Ellis wrote hardcover women's fiction for Ballantine, and her literary short stories have been included in collections of modern southern writers. Her first title, The Wedding Dress, was released in trade paperback in May of 2002 and has been optioned for a movie by Dolly Parton in partnership with Columbia Tri-Star pictures. It was also chosen as one of the top ten favorite books of the 2002 by Romance Writers of America.

As featured in the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, her next title, The Photograph, came out in hardcover, June of 2003—and was released in trade paperback in May 2004. Set in Miami during the turbulent years of WWII, The Photograph was chosen as a top ten favorite book in 2003 by RWA. Virginia was also recently honored in her hometown of Davie, Florida.

Gin was a founding partner in the small, Southern press, Belle Books—devoted to publishing the unique voices of southern women.

Gin used to say... "If I could characterize my voice and world view, I would say I create families out of strangers and find hope in the most surprising places. I also have a fascination with the invisible elements of life that some might call 'mystical.' I believe there is more at work in the universe than our own small plans."

Gin passed away in January, 2006.
